The Racecourse at Merano
The racecourse at Merano which is located in Maia Bassa is one of the most beautiful in Europe and is the main racecourse in Italy for races with jumps. The most important race the Grand Prix of Merano takes place on the 4th Sunday in September.
The track at the racecourse in Merano is 5km long and covers an area of 40 hectares. It was realised in the first half of the 20th century and was inaugurated in 1935 with the first Grand Prix of Merano.
Thanks to its favourable location, which places it at the centre of the Mediterranean, countries to the East and the North of Europe,
the racecourse in Merano is where races with fences are held with the best horses from Italy, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic,
Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia.
The season at the racecourse in Merano goes from May to October and there are 25 races of which the majority take place at weekends and on bank holidays.
